5 July 2015: @ SEA

Yesterday was a fantastic summer day and I was caught in the Ketchikan 4 July Independant Day celebrations and made me think back of my student days when we had “JOOL” at varsity.Is definitely a big thing in the States. Everyone was on the streets and most vehicles had kids and dogs in, like the fire trucks,ambulans,copcars,truckers,US Coast Guard ,skole,rotary,so looks like on this day the kids and animals join in,dis seker hoekom hulle so patrioties is.Had a street parade and have people throwing sweets at the kids along the way so some walked away with bags of them.After watching this parade I went to my usual spot and there were people all over,heard a family speaking  Afrikaans and could not let the opportunety pass without asking where they come from.They were going to get on an smaller ship that takes them exsploring Alaska with canoes,took a pic of there boat a few weeks back and said they are on it for 8 days,sound exciting.They only take 40 people and were having a special info talk for all there guest in the lobby of the hotel.Then I went to get some some chilli sauce for someone,called Screaming Santa there is fire in the North Pole!! And Frostys Melt Down made from Ghost Peppers hottest peppers in the world, well good luck for I will definitely not be putting it in my mouth.Then after a nice cup of tea, I landed under the blue blanket and got stuck there for a while!! Toe ek vamiddag oppad was, toe is ek verby een van die werkers wat lyk my te veel etanol in sy sisteem gehad het,en  moes reg maak om te blaas,die arme ding kry hulle so jammer, 9 maande weg van die huis is darem maar lank en raak seker party dae net te veel dan gee jy jou seker oor aan die drank,ek het al n paar keer met hom gesels toe ons n tafel gedeel het op sy aftye in Icy Strait Point ,dan skype hy met sy meisie.Het ook n versteekde swangerskap gehad van 34 weke nogal gespot en gese toemaar liefie sal dit beslis kan hanteer na al sy bevalling en ek sal my boobs uitleen vir cangeroo behandeling maar sy gelukkig huis toe voor enige moeilikheid.So sien never a dull moment en mense dink jy sien net mense wat seesiek voel!! Lyk my liefie was in sy vorige lewe n akteur want, die laat my so lag as hy die passasiers namaak,en wragtig oud word n lelike ding maar nou ja dit wag vir ons almal wat dit maak tot dan en het nie brieke nie,lyk my hy vat jou net.

6 July 2015: Vancouver

This morning we arrived in a Vancouver covered in smoke,even looks like fog, the smoke so thick.When I went up to deck 11 for breakfast I could smell the smoke,I asked a guy in the terminal building and he told me that they had been fighting a forest fire for a day and a half so that exsplained the smoke.If not for the smoke it would have been a beautiful sunny day in Vancouver.Today was also my last day of rondloping so I decided to hire a bike.Sighned the papers and off I went with my bike and basket!!cycleling on the  the rights side of the road which was also a funny feeling but enjoyed every minute.Luckely the lady told me that in Stanley Park it is a one way so no turning around, you have to get to the half way mark and can come back down it or you have to go all the way!! In the park you also have 3 areas, one for the cars, then for the bikes and right against the water for walkers,so makes  it very easy and all the bikes are going one way so no dodging other riders.Along the way I saw lots of ducks/geese or wat ever you call them, and one lone ranger,a seal.Stopped here and there to take photos and is a nice flat ride all along the sea with the park on your left.When I got to buildings I realised, ok you have to turn back and was stressed for a while until I got my bearings,took out the map of the park and made my u turn, water toe!! Hired the bike for 2 hours so had to be back by 11h15, had a deadline!! Had a great time and so glad I decided to do it.On my way back I heard crowds making a noise, little did I know that Americas women soccer team that had just won the world cup ,were busy with victory celebrations and there supporters and the world media .So up I went to also have a glimps of these players and got a photo or two,even picked up the red blue and white streamers they used ,that were lying all over .So I had a wonderful day, just sorry that hubby could not go with, for he would have loved it,but was on duty.So this afternoon we leave Vancouver, on our way to Seward and hope we have better weather this week.So until tomorrow bye.

7 Julie 2015: @SEA

Vandag is dit meer mistig en toegetrek met ontbyt, die mis weer so dik dat mens net mooi niks kan sien nie en alweer tyd gewees vir die mishoring se geblaas kort kort.Laat my terug dink aan die huis op daadie dae wat hulle ook so aanmekaar die mishoring blaas tot mens se irritasie tot jy self op die see is in sulke tye en besef jy kan regtig niks voor jou sien nie en dit jou hulp.Ek het gisteraand weer vleis geeet en vanoggend vol krag gewees in die gym, so begin dink daar steek waarheid in die storie vleis gee jou krag!! Sover gaan dit rusitg en geen drama.Vamiddag toe ek op is na dek 11 vir tee en koek!! toe het ons 5 walvisse gehad wat baljaar,so dit was nogal spesiaal,een van hulle het seker so 5 keer kop eerste uit die water opgekom en dan weer met n groot gesplash die water in,dan sien jy n fin an dan weer n stert wat so stadig verdwyn.So lyk my was walvis dag!Later die middag toe roep liefie my om te se dat n paartjie van SA ons kom groet het en dit is toe familie van n vriendin in Graaff-Reinet wat vir die week op die cruise is,en syt vir ons gese ons moet op die uitkyk vir hulle wees.Dit was nou n lekker verrassing en baie oulike mense en soooo lekker om mense van die huis te sien,te lekker gesels. More is ons weer in Ketchikan,die week doen ons dinge mos agterste voor.Liefie werk more so ek gaan alleen die pad moet vat maar vandag op sy af dag,dink ek sal ons seker weer onder die blou kombers eindig!!Nou ja tot more mooi bly.
